Never Fail Cookies

Well it's Sunday, the Oscars are about to start and I have been busy baking up a storm.  I made the Butterscotch Brownies again today.  Last week they were a little to done and so I perfected the baking time to 25-30 minutes.  Yummy!!!  Alyssa, Alexis, and Kris have been busy sampling and I have gotten rave reviews.  Is there an Oscar in my future? These are so easy to make and clean up is also a breeze.

Now for today's recipe...Never Fail Cookies.

 1 c. sugar
1 1/2 c shortening
1 tsp soda
1 tsp cream of tartar
3 c Flour
1/2 tsp salt
2 eggs
3 tsp cream
1 tsp vanilla

Put all ingredients in bowl and mix as one does for pie crust (by hand).  Drop by teaspoon full on greased cookie sheet.  Press down with small glass dipped in sugar.  Bake 350 for about 10 min. until light brown.  100 cookies.

I made small balls and then pressed them down with glass.

I did not mix the dough by hand, but used a big spoon and my strong muscles.  Ha Ha.  Also, I didn't get 100 cookies out of this recipe either-about 60 plus.  I guess I made my balls too big.  I was using a pampered chef scoop, the littlest one.  They are a delicious, light, crispy, sugar cookie.  I think they taste great right out of the oven.

Thanks again Grandma.  I miss you.  Love, Laura
